From Iceland — More Artists Announced For Airwaves

More Artists Announced For Airwaves

Published May 5, 2011

A press release from the organisers of Iceland Airwaves has established the addition of even more acts confirmed for this fall’s line up.
The statement says, “Drum-looping, soulful and experimental tUnE-yArDs from the US and the Toronto trio Austra will make even the walls sweat with their dark electro and beats. No less can be expected from UK’s SBTRKT (We’re noticing a mask/headpiece/crochet beard trend forming here). Canada’s dreamy pop outfit Young Galaxy, Finnish Murmansk bring their shoegaze with an aggressive edge and the Norwegian Deathcrush will get us screaming with their riot music. Elephant Stone will serve us a dose of Canadian hindu pop (We’re making up genres now) and fellow Canadians Karkwa will deliver with their big indie sound.
“From the home of Iceland Airwaves we bring you the progressive metalcore of Wistaria, lo-fi soul and urban folk singer-songwriter Snorri Helgason, bluesy progressive rockers The Vintage Caravan and electronic synthpoppers Yoda Remote. Winners of the local Battle of the Bands, Samaris, will do their first Iceland Airwaves show and Sóley is sure to give us intimate indie music. Then we have legendary pop icon Páll Óskar and equally legendary Iceland folk band Megas og Senuþjófarnir.
“Next step for you, friend-o: Get yourself a ticket orpackage deal and then we’ll see you in October. Early bird tickets are available until June 1st.”
Interested readers are advised to either buy tickets or a package deal, with early bird specials going on until 1 June.
