Björk Declines To Be On Glee

Published April 6, 2011

Artist Björk Guðmundsdóttir said “thanks but not thanks” to the producers of the television show Glee, when asked if a song of hers could be used on the show.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Glee creator Ryan Murphy approached Björk with the offer to have one of her songs used on the show. To this, the artist respectfully declined.
“She read the scene and didn’t think it was the right fit for her song,” Murphy said. “I told her, ‘That’s completely cool,’ and she said to come back to her down the road. We deal with that every day.”
Murphy has been having a rough time of it lately when it comes to getting musicians to have songs appear on his show. A public shouting match between him and Kings of Leon has drawn a lot of attention, with Foo Fighters frontman David Grohl remarking, “It’s every band’s right [to say no] … F*ck that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.”
