The City of Reykjavík is trying out a new idea this week and keeping Laugardalslaug pool open 24 hours a day from today until Monday, July 26 at 22:30, reports visir.
A proposal was put forth on the city’s public proposal website Betri Reykjavík to keep the pool open all night for one day, but the idea drew so much support that the municipal government decided to try the idea for five days. The city sees this as an opportunity for people to go swimming in the bright summer nights and have a truly unique experience. If the event is successful, the city sees a possibility for this to become an annual event.
The cost for night time admission between 22:30-6:30 is 1000 ISK, but city discount cards still apply. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and alcohol is strictly forbidden.
