From Iceland — New Tourism Campaign Off to Good Start

New Tourism Campaign Off to Good Start

Published June 3, 2010

“Inspired by Iceland” – a website hosting a series of videos, some of them by well-known people, touting the qualities of Iceland – has been apparently taking off to a great start.
Ragnar Gunnarsson, director of the advertising agency Fíton which has been producing the videos, told Vísir that the site has already seen over 340,000 visits, besides over two million tweets.
There are 113 videos in all, and of the visits the site has received, about 215,000 have come from outside Iceland.
A great number of tourists and celebrities alike have submitted videos to the campaign, recounting their positive experiences of Iceland. The campaign comes at a welcome time, as RÚV reports tourism actually decreased last month, most likely due to the Eyjafjallajökull eruption.
Anyone is welcome to submit videos to the website, and are encouraged to do so.
