Sex Division – Lengi Lifi Lýðveldið

Published December 5, 2005

Lengi Lifi Lýðveldið is a collection of pointed and remarkably accurate political and social satire hollered off-key over the lamest, blandest and most rushed post-punk ever distributed. These guys bring a whole new meaning to the words cringe worthy. They put nails on a chalkboard to shame. The compositions are hopelessly lacklustre, the sound awful and the playing uninspired, soulless and incredibly weak, especially the rhythm section. I would wish they would have stuck to covering the band that gave them their name and their musical style – Joy Division, for those that needed clarification – if I couldn’t so clearly picture Ian Curtis performing impossibly acrobatic somersaults within the confines of his coffin as they played.
