The picture on the Stranger cover shows an amiable man looking down modestly. The tracks on this album are also amiable and modest. Singer Hjörvar Hjörleifsson has a relaxed delivery, sometimes delivering higher notes like an early David Bowie. The compositions are pleasant, and you don’t want to stop the CD, but they’re delivered with such nonchalance, and the lyrics, while never glaringly wrong, lack a hook. This laid back delivery and song writing combined with more memorable lyrics might lead to a major album, but “Paint Peace” certainly isn’t a disappointment.
