There are plenty of fun, food-themed events going on in the latter half of February.
On February 23-26 you can partake in the Reykjavík Bar Summit, a new addition to February’s orgy of food and drink festivals, thought to merge the European and American bar communities in an alcoholic no man’s land (harsh but fair).
It is centred around Slippbarinn, but the festivities will take attendees far and wide. Aside from a three-day midweek binge courtesy of some talented bartenders, events include a Northern Lights boat ride, geothermal baths, a couple of lunches, a dinner, and swanky parties.
Tickets for all three days run a very reasonable $190—however, everyone who’s eighteen or older is welcome to attend the main competition event at Iðnó free of charge, and then you can shell out a lousy 1,500 ISK to get five drinks at the ‘Battle of the Continents’ event at Reykjavík Art Museum.

February 25-March 1, veteran local TV chef and foodtrepreneur Siggi Hall, in collaboration with Iceland Naturally, Inspired By Iceland, and Holy Shit I Love Iceland (the last one may be made up), gives us Iceland’s most prestigious food event, Food & Fun. For five days, power-chefs temporarily take over some of Iceland’s finest kitchens before a panel of judges and hungry diners.
Visiting chefs include celebrity chef Michael Ferraro of Delicatessen, fairgrounds gourmand Paul Cunningham, hairy Norwegian Michelin-beast Even Ramsvik, and Cubano revivalist Dougles Rodriguez.
Participating restaurants include Apótek, Kol, Vox, Kolabrautin, and more.
