A new website has been launched by the Directorate of Health to educate Icelanders about how much sugar is in their food, reports Vísir.

The site was launched in conjunction with Tannverndarvikan (Dental Health Week) aimed at raising awareness about the importance of oral health.

The site, sykurmagn (sugar content), shows how much sugar is added to a variety of commonly purchased food items in Icelandic supermarkets and although the sugar content is represented through sugar cubes, refined white sugar is not the only culprit included but also raw sugar, icing sugar, molasses, syrup, agave syrup, glucose, fructose and lastly the sugar in honey.
