WOW Air’s new California routes went on sale this morning, with limited one-way fares to Los Angeles and San Francisco available for $99.
Wow Air have invested in new long-range planes to accommodate the West Coast journeys, which are the latest addition to their popular trans-Atlantic services to Boston, Baltimore/Washington D.C., Toronto and Montreal.
In a press release from the airline, the founder and CEO of the airline, Skúli Mogensen, said: “This is a game changer for WOW air, and arguably the travel industry, making travel to Iceland and other European countries both easy and affordable from California.”
The routes will also connect American passengers to mainland Europe with a one-hour stopover at Keflavík.
Wow is the only “low-cost” Icelandic airline, having swallowed up the competition, Iceland Express, in 2012. The airline has thrived since, and its projected passenger load is set to double in 2016 to 1.8m people.
