Published March 11, 2011

The results of a poll conducted by Market And Media Research on the personalities of the nation’s politicians has shown some interesting results, among them that Reykjavík mayor Jón Gnarr is considered the most honourable politician in the country.
Among the results published are the following:
Minister of Finance Steingrímur J. Sigfússon is considered the most decisive politician, at 36.6%, outranking even Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, who is at 26.9%. Steingrímur was also considered the strongest politician (29.2%), the one who works best under pressure (25.8%), and the politician who is a born leader (14.9%).
Not all the spoils went to Steingrímur though. Movement MP Birgitta Jónsdóttir was considered the politician who stays truest to her own convictions (35.7%), and Jón Gnarr is considered the most honourable politician in the country (28.8%). The capital’s mayor was also regarded as having the most personal charm (29.5%) and to have the strongest connection with the general public (23.7%).
Generally speaking, left-wing politicians came out on top, with no conservatives leading any of the personality traits polled upon. At best, Independence Party chairman Bjarni Benediktsson came in second place as a strong politician who works well under pressure.
