Stuff We Like!

So this is interesting. And you really need to hurry up if you want to catch it. Tonight marks the final performance of the Student Theatre’s adaption of “Going Ballistic”, a piece of avant garde theatre inspired by awesome Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster TOP GUN. In an e-mail to the Grapevine, they told us it was about “masculinity, social role playing and beating the hell out of a bunch of Russian commies using 120 million dollars worth of fighter jet planes.”
They go on to say this is a “very educational show” and should be fun for both young and old. And it’s friggin based on TOP GUN. Goddamnit. Even if it might be seriously lacking in the Val Kilmer/Tom Cruise homoerotic tension department, it still sounds awesome. As a plus, it’s directed by Rostislav Tumanov, so fans of his ought to make sure not to miss this.
“Going Ballistic” screens tonight at 1900 hours, at the Listaháskóli Íslands space on Sölvhólsgata. Admission is free, but if you want to guarantee seating at the event, you should call Albert at 552-5020.
