Celebrity cat Diegó has been found after being taken against his will from Skeifan over the weekend, reports RÚV. Witnesses reported seeing someone take Diegó aboard a bus on Sunday evening, which helped lead to his recovery.
Since Diegó’s disappearance, countless people have joined the search, including Dýrafinna, an organisation dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their owners. Numerous tips were received during the effort, ultimately guiding the police to Diegó’s location at a private residence this morning.
Diegó was then taken to the police station on Hverfisgata, where he was well cared for until being reunited with his owner.
“It goes without saying there were heartfelt celebrations,” the police statement noted.
Diegó has become a favourite among cat lovers over the years, frequently spotted lounging in shops around Skeifan, near his home in Reykjavík.
