A picture of a policeman with a kitten on a ride-along has generated a great deal of interest on Instagram today, reports mbl.is. The picture was posted to the Police’s official Instagram account as well as their Facebook page.
Flosi Brynjólfsson, one of the officers with the Reykjavík police who look after social media management, said in an interview that the kitten in question is called Mósi and belongs to one of the police officers in the patrol car.
“Mósi was on his way to the cat sitter and was allowed to work the shift with them for a little bit.” Flosi said, “Mósi will be raised as a police cat.”
Flosi added that police are often in contact with animals as lost or injured cats, dogs and birds need assistance the same way people do.
The aim of the Police’s social media presence is to allow the citizens of Reykjavík to gain an insight into the daily life of police officers in the city. “We want to show people that we are just human, not just serious.” Flosi said.
