From Iceland — Economic Status Report Released In English

Economic Status Report Released In English

Published April 15, 2011

The Iceland Chamber of Commerce has just released a 70-plus page report on the economic situation in this country, in English, and available for free.
In a press release from the Chamber of Commerce, they say the need for such a report arose because “of a lack of external information flow, a lot of misconceptions have developed concerning the chain of events in the recent scenario and the current status of the Icelandic economy. This Status Report is meant to give a better insight into the chain of events and the current economic, business and political landscape in Iceland.”
They go on further to say that “despite substantial difficulties, general economic activity is still well functional and many Icelandic businesses remain strong and prosperous.”
The report itself is a compendium of data, stretching from the roots of the October 2008 banking collapse to present day. “The Icelandic Government, both past and present, has taken measures and is tirelessly working towards overcoming the obstacles in the way for stimulating economic growth,” they say.
The full report, in English, can be downloaded for free here.
