Yesterday, the sun and moon competed for a seat in the sky and reached a tie. This only happens once a year during the vernal equinox, when night and day are approximately equally long. To celebrate this annual celestial contest, the Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey Island will beam into the Icelandic sky from an hour after sunset to midnight every night until March 26.

During this time, special evening tours will be available though Elding, where a guide will take you on a tour of the tower and Viðey Island. Yesterday’s tour was dedicated to the victims of the catastrophe in Yoko Ono’s homeland of Japan, the main motivator behind the Imagine Peace Tower’s construction. All of the profits were donated to the Save the Children (Barnaheill) endowment fund.

For reservation and further information about the tours contact Elding: tel. +354 5553565 or elding@elding.is.
