As pink, heart-filled advertisements take over the screens by bus stops, and every restaurant prepares for a busy Saturday night, we’re going to trudge onwards and do what we normally do: present a smattering of events (where lovers, singletons, and anyone in between are welcome).

Tonight, the Rocky Horror Picture Show is this week’s Party Screening at Bíó Paradís. Regrettably, the live-acted show is already sold out, but they’ve added another screening of the movie in the next room over at 21:20.

Tomorrow, on February 14, Margrét Jónsdóttir’s exhibition Klifun opens at Listasalur Mosfellsbæjar at 14:00, where she presents paintings made from combining watercolours with natural elements (moss, dirt, and egg tempera). Bókumbók celebrates their new location on Njálsgata with an opening party, beginning at 15:00! You can expect DJs, performances, roses, ástarpungar (love balls), and more.

Gréta Mjöll Bjarnadóttir and Kristbergur Ó. Pétursson open the exhibition Nýtt á gömlum grunni at the Grafíksalurinn (IPA Gallery) at 16:00, where they combine old sketches and ideas into new works.

In the evening, there will be a Queer Love Poems open mic at Garg, beginning at 18:00. If you’ve got your own poem, you’re welcome to read it, but they’ll also have poems for those who just want to read aloud.

Looking for something else? Just scroll down. Got an event? Add it to the calendar at events.grapevine.is, or go there to check out what’s already happening around town.

For a Valentine’s Day extravaganza, musicians lúpína, Knackered, and Sunna Margrét unite on the Smekkleysa stage. Knackered just won “Best Live Act” at the Grapevine Music Awards, so if you trust us, don’t miss this show. Alongside that, lúpína released a single (and video for) “The Rain Goes Up” and Sunna Margrét’s about to head out on a U.K. tour. Everyone’s at the top of their game! If that’s not enough, the three say that crying is allowed on the dance floor. ISH

Á. Birna Björnsdóttir — When I looked up, the moon had changed shape

Runs until March 21 — BERG Contemporary — Free entry

“Emotional scientist” Birna juxtaposes the scientific with the spiritual in this multimedia, sprawling exhibition. Two metallic eyes rotate — orbit — to mimic the sun and moon, and the poignance of tears is explored. Compellingly, artist Helena Sólveigar Aðalsteinsbur’s text for the exhibition reads: “Birna’s installations feel like language slowed down until it becomes matter (mountain, river, ocean, rain, puddle – tear, snot, slime, goo).” ISH
