Icelandic authorities have hired the lobbying and law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck to represent the country in Washington D.C. The Icelandic state brokered a 6-month deal with the company, paying a sum total of 150.000 USD, Politico reports.

The decision came in late January, when the nominated U.S. ambassador Billy Long joked about making Iceland the 52nd state.

According to Politico, their work will include “helping Iceland make inroads with the federal government by brokering introductions and meetings with key stakeholders, developing strategies and tactics for its engagement with Washington.”
