lúpína at Tónabíó

Friday, March 28 — 20:00 — Tónabíó — Free

We first spotted lúpína a few years ago in an old slaughterhouse at Hátíðni and have been captivated by her dreamy energy ever since. If you haven’t seen her live yet, now’s your chance — tonight, for free. She’s already being booked for international festivals, and it won’t be long before she’s playing bigger gigs. A few years from now, you can kick back and say, “Remember when I saw her for free at Tónabíó? Those were the days.” IZ

Piano Day Celebration

Saturday, March 29 — 21:00 — Bíó Paradís — Free, donations welcome

This might not have been on your radar, but March 29 is International Piano Day! To celebrate, seven pianists will be showing music videos on the big screen at Bíó Paradís. An event that began with the release of Sævar Jóhannsson’s “Headspace,” 10 videos will be shown from artists who are either Icelandic or have a connection to Iceland. “Usually, you just see these on social media, watch them on your phone,” organiser Brynja Bjarnadóttir explains, “so it is much more exciting to see them on the big screen.” With exciting stories to each, like Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir’s “Blikna” is from a poem written by the artist, the bill includes Magnús Jóhann, Eydís Evensen, Snorri Hallgrímsson, Sævar Jóhannsson, Viktor Orri, Oldhånd, and Sofi Paez. Come celebrate the piano! ISH
