Wow Air will begin flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel on September 13. RÚV reports that Isavia, the company that manages Keflavík International Airport, is required to change their security measures as a result.

The Israeli government sets strict security controls on countries with flights to and from Israel, and Isavia says authorities in Tel Aviv has been in contact regarding such measures as weapons searches. Isavia fulfills the requirements, but are not permitted to disclose what exactly those security measures entail.

“All airlines that fly to Israel need to fulfill the requirements of the the Israeli government regarding air protection,” a written statement from Wow Air to RÚV states.

However, neither the airline nor the airport are permitted to disclose what these security measures entail, and Wow Air could therefore not comment further on the matter.
