Á allra vörum, still from ad

Yesterday, the campaign Á allra vörum (On everyone’s lips), was launched to raise money for the women’s shelter Kvennaathvarfið. Last year, 116 women who had suffered domestic abuse stayed at the shelter.

The campaign will run for two weeks and will be funded through the sale of custom made lip gloss, which will literally put the topic on everyone’s lips. As part of the campaign, an harrowing ad has been released, which depicts a desperate woman fleeing her home with a young child.

On her Facebook page, first lady Eliza Reid encouraged people to support the campaign, as well as stating that: “FIFTY PERCENT of women staying at the Kvennaathvarf women’s shelter are of foreign origin.”

If you have been the victim of domestic abuse, call the Kvennaathvarfið hotline: 00354 561-1205.
