SMITE! Icelandic Women’s Football Team Plays KF Mjöðm For UNICEF

Published June 1, 2017

The Icelandic national women’s football team will play KF Mjöðm on Saturday June 3rd at the KEX Hostel, in support of UNICEF. Rather than laying down turf in KEX, they’ve opted for the more portable challenge of a table football match.

The KF Mjöðm team features some names you might know from their non-sporting pursuits, including Sindri “Sin Fang” Már Sigfússon, Örvar Smárason of múm and Högni Egilsson of Hjaltalín and GusGus. They’ll face Sandra Sigurðardóttir, Málfríður Erna Sigurðardóttir, Katrín Ásbjörnsdóttir and Lára Kristín Pedersen. The game will be reported live by the famous shrieking Icelandic commentator, Gummi Ben.

The program is as follows:
14:00: Högni sings the national anthem.
14:10: The game begins.
14:20: Half time: Kött Grá Pjé half time fun.
14:35: The second half begins.
15:00: Award ceremony.

The event is held on Red Nose Day, and is sponsored by Vodafone, with all proceeds going to UNICEF. KF Mjöðm shirts will be sold in Vodafone stores as an additional way for people to offer support.
