Some stunning northern lights put on quite a show over Reykjavík last night.

Our Facebook feed was full of brave but futile attempts to capture the lights on iPhone—but one Vimeo post stood out spread widely on the social network.

The film below captured the strong display over the city beautifully, starting with a view of the skyline before zooming in to get a closer look at the dancing green, white and blue hues.

The film and image were taken by Sævar Helgi Bragason & Snorri Þór Tryggvason and originally posted here.

The forecast for tonight is again a 5 our of 9—also known as a “high” alert—with minimal cloud cover forecast over the capital region and the south coast. You can see the Icelandic Meteorological Office forecast here.

Happy aurora spotting!
