Temperatures will be dropping across Iceland over the next several days, although some places will feel the chill more than others.

RÚV reports that the cold is already descending on the country, and temperatures are not expected to rise again until this weekend.

Temperatures will stay below freezing across the country over the rest of the week. In the east and southeast, this will be accompanied by high winds, in some cases reaching as fast as 18m/s. Meanwhile, up north, hail and sleet are expected to continue, tapering off as the week continues.

Here in the capital, skies are sunny, but the clouds are expected to roll in later this afternoon and bring snow this evening.

Readers can rest assured that meteorologists predict the cold will abate somewhat this weekend, as capital area weather is expected to warm up a little, with clearer skies.
