The Icelandic travel site Dohop has edged out the competition to be this year’s Reader’s Choice at USA Today.

Readers chose Dohop over 19 other companies as the “best app/website for transportation”, and was so honoured for providing “users with a search engine to find the best possible route between two places”.

“This is magnificent,” Dohop CEO Davíð Gunnarsson said in a statement to the press. “We thought it was wonderful, but surprising, to be nominated because we don’t have a large share in the American market. But this recognition from USA Today’s readers is incredible. To them, we’re not an Icelandic company but a great website.”

Dohop was founded in 2004 with the simple purpose of finding the best possible route between two points, based on travel time, fares, and other factors. The site combines data from numerous airlines and travel agencies to make this a reality. Available in 29 languages, Dohop can also help visitors find flights, accommodations, and car rentals.
