Landslide Wrecks Dyrhólaey Trail

The trail leading to Dyrahólaey was wrecked yesterday after a landslide, according to Vísir. Dyrhólaey lies just off the coast of Reynisfjara near Vík í Mýrdal, a popular tourist attraction.

“I would guess that a couple of hundred cubic metres fell down,” said guide Aron Reynisson. He posted this photo album of the destruction to his Facebook page:

“It’s important that people are always careful — Icelandic wilderness can be dangerous,” the local police said, issuing a warning that people should not get too close to the edge. They also posted these photos on their Facebook page:
