From Iceland — Professors Agree To Strike

Professors Agree To Strike

Published November 11, 2014

Eighty percent of those members of the State University Professors’ Association who took a vote, voted for a strike, starting midnight December 1, and lasting until Monday December 15 if negotiations with the State have not reached a conclusion before then. Twenty percent voted against. This was reported by RÚV.

Membership includes professors at the University of Iceland, Akureyri University, the Agricultural University and Hólar University. During the strike, they will not return assignments, nor evaluate exams, assignments, theses or any work in courses in which they are involved.

In case of a strike, the professors would join music teachers and hospital doctors, as professions taking such action this autumn.
