The police in Vestmanneyjar are attempting to reunite lost items with their owners through social media following the Merchants’ Weekend celebrations, reports Vísir.

These items include backpacks, keys, phones, coats and even shoes and can be found on the police’s Facebook page.

Lost credit cards can be collected at the Vestmanneyjar bank branches of Íslandsbanki and Sparisjóðurinn.

Every year in Iceland, the first weekend in August is dedicated to celebrating Verslunarmannahelgi (“Merchants’ Weekend”), a labour day / bank holiday equivalent.
