Over 15 million ISK has been raised for the National University Hospital of Iceland in the annual WOW Cyclothon, reports Vísir.

As reported, this is the third WOW Cyclothon and the proceeds far exceeded the 10 million ISK goal. Competing teams had just 72 hours to cover 1,332 kilometres, with the aim of raising cash towards technical equipment for the orthopedic surgery department of the National University Hospital of Iceland.

In all 520 people, split into 63 teams, participated in the race around Iceland. Originally the competition was put in place not only to raise money for charity but also to introduce young people to cycling as a sport and to promote a healthy lifestyle.
