An “avant-garde Japanese tea ceremony” will be performed at Yoko Ono’s Peace Tower next Friday, to coincide with the summer solstice.

In a statement to the press, artist and international tea master Adam Wojcinski says that the ceremony will begin promptly at 22:00, on June 20, at the Peace Tower on Viðey. The tea ceremony will be performed by Adam over the following 24 hours, along with prayers for peace, and the participation of the general public is welcome.

“[T]his artwork is planned in 24 hours of daylight, when the light tower of the Imagine Peace Tower cannot shine in its usual brilliance,” Adam told the press. “This communicates the message that peace is not passive – peace is an action that we all must consciously decide to make, in our own light.”
