From Iceland — Herbalife Objects To Health Criticism

Herbalife Objects To Health Criticism

Published May 24, 2012

Although two Icelandic doctors have found a connection between using Herbalife supplements and health problems, an Herbalife employee contends that there is nothing harmful in any of their products.
Sigurður Ólafsson and Einar S. Björnsson, in examining connections between Herbalife and health issues in Iceland, found ten instances wherein use of the products caused liver damage, showing itself in such symptoms as nausea, jaundice and fatigue, which disappeared after use of the products was stopped, DV reports.
However, a salesperson for Herbalife, Julian Cacchioli, objects to the findings, saying that there is nothing harmful in any Herbalife products.
“Since 2005, when the first instance of Herbalife causing liver damage was reported, governments in 26 countries conducted thorough investigations and came to the conclusion that there was no justifiable action to be taken against Herbalife,” his statement reads in part.
He concludes that their products are safe and healthy. Sigurður and Einar’s research will, in the meantime, continue.
