Emmsjé Gauti Charged With Throwing Bottle At Cop Car

Published February 23, 2012

Rapper Emmsjé Gauti has been charged with throwing a bottle at a police car, and says he only intended “to mess with the cops a little, because they’re always messing with us.”
Speaking candidly to Vísir about the matter, he explained that he was at a party at university student housing, when the police arrived. Gauti intended only to throw the bottle near the police car but, as he puts it, “I should have glasses. I didn’t quite see where I was throwing and the bottle landed right on the hood of the police car.”
Gauti was subsequently arrested and taken to the police station on Hverfisgata. There, he says he had a nice chat with the other officers about life. “But this one lied to me. He said my fine would be around 15,000 ISK, but it was well over 100,000 ISK.”
When asked if he regrets the incident, he responded, “Yeah, I guess. My wallet regrets it, too.” On a more serious note, he added, “It could have gone badly. The bottle could have hit somebody. Then the joke wouldn’t have been as funny. I didn’t intend to hurt anyone or damage the cop car. I just wanted to mess with the cops a little, because they’re always messing with us.”
