Feminist Dance Entry Dominated Teenage Talent Show

Hagaskóli won this year’s Skrekkur talent competition with their feminist entry. The spoken-word/dance performance ‘Elsku Stelpur’ (“Dear Girls”) focused on society’s stranglehold over teenage girls’ lives and behaviour, and the sexism and double standards they face on a daily basis. Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson delivered a few impassioned words at the ceremony, saying: “Tonight, the revolution continues,” reports RÚV.

Skrekkur is an annual talent show for teenagers where each primary school sends in one entry.
