Bedroom Community Announce Festival Schedule, Including Hallgrímskirkja Show

Bedroom Community is probably Iceland’s best-known record label, renowned for a roster that smashes the mould of contemporary classical music. So, it’s exciting for everyone to see that they’re going to have a very active Iceland Airwaves, full of daily opportunities to see BedCom artists performing in unusual settings.

Perhaps the biggest news is the Wednesday night off-venue. It feels more like a grand festival opening gala than an off-venue, in this case – as it’s to be held in Reykjavík’s Hallgrímskirkja cathedral. “This is a first for Airwaves, using the formidable Hallgrímskirkja Church as an off-venue,” says label head Valgeir Sigurðsson, who’ll also perform at the event. “We’re always trying to bring new and interesting events to the festival goers of Airwaves, and we couldn’t be prouder to bring this event to kick off the festival.”

After that, BedCom take over Kaffibarinn and Kaldalón, before screening their Whale Watching film on Sunday, right before Kraftwerk take the stage in nearby Harpa.

The gig schedule is below, and take a look at the Facebook event here and add them to your personal schedule using the Airwaves App.
