From Iceland — Reykjavík Wants to Hear From Foreigners

Reykjavík Wants to Hear From Foreigners

Published October 29, 2010

City hall is asking for input from the city’s immigrant residents by inviting them to an open meeting next week.
The meeting, entitled “Let’s Talk!”, will take place at the Reykjavík City Theatre (also known as Borgarleikhús) on Saturday, 6 November, from 10:00 until 14:00. Doors will open at 9:15.
All foreigners living in Reykjavík who are 18 years of age or older are welcome.
A statement from the organizers says: “The aim of the meeting is to improve the city of Reykjavík’s immigration services. Therefore, we ask people of foreign origin to join us by participating in a round-table discussion and to voice your opinions on how to improve the city’s services. The results of the meeting will be taken into consideration as the city looks for ways to improve services for immigrants living in Reykjavík.”
To register for this meeting, all you need do is send an e-mail to mannrettindi@reykjavik.is before 4 November.
It’s not every day that government officials actually ask citizens for their active input on an issue, so the Grapevine encourages all of its qualified readers who can take part to do so.
