Sigur Rós have come in at 47th place on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 50 Greatest Live Acts Right Now.
The list, which hit the web on July 31, likened the band to the trippiest live act since Pink Floyd and praised them for their stage production of studio orchestration. It also compared Jónsi to one of rock’s greatest legends with the statement: “Jimmy Page, you are not the only who can destroy a crowd with a bowed guitar.”
Drummer Orri Dýrasson had not yet heard the news when he was contacted by Vísir for comment. “I guess this is just great,” he told them, quite modestly.
The band came in one place behind Tool and just ahead of Fiona Apple. The top three spots went to Bruce Springsteen, Prince and The Rolling Stones.
