Actor Ed Westwick, speaking to the magazine Tatler, compared the response he received from his Icelandic fans to being one of the Beatles.
As many might remember, last December Westwick was stuck in Iceland due to a delayed flight, and ended up hitting downtown Reykjavík to enjoy some of the night life. DV reported at the time that the star got drunk, verbally and physically harrassed female fans who spotted him, and was rejected by model Lilja Ingibjargardóttir when he allegedly attempted to have sex with her. Lilja described his behaviour as arrogant and “oafish”.
Westwick adopted a more aw-shucks demeanour about his visit in an interview in the March issue of Tatler. Westwick provided his side of the story, saying in part that the reaction he received in being recognised in Iceland was on par with “Beatlemania”, saying in part, “I’m, like, ‘Leave me alone! This is silly.'”
To the Grapevine’s knowledge, no member of the Beatles has ever smashed a fan’s camera or kicked a woman, but we could be wrong.
