On November 21, her 60th birthday, Icelandic artist Björk publicly issued a lawsuit against the Icelandic state regarding sea-based fish farming in Iceland.

The lawsuit is one of the four cases supported by the Björk-helmed environmental group AEGIS, founded two years ago with the release of Björk and Rosalía’s song “Oral”. The entirety of the song’s proceedings have gone towards supporting AEGIS in its cause.

In an Instagram post, Björk and AEGIS share the details of the four cases “Oral” has managed to support.

These including helping Seyðisfjörður locals stop the licensing of a fish farm in the municipality; an in-depth legal case about marine spatial planning in Seyðisfjörður; the Icelandic Wildlife Fund’s case to revoke fish farm permits in Tálknafjörður and Patreksfjörður; and summoning the Icelandic state in order to stop a fish farm in Sandeyri, constructed against the locals’ will.
