On February 14, Sigur Rós published an Instagram post saying that their former keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson has returned to the band. Sigur Rós is now working on new music together with Kjartan.

We have been having some awful weather here as of late, so we’re specially grateful for our comfy traditional lopapeysa sweaters, the beautiful woolen garments which have been keeping Icelanders warm for generations. They’re available in our shop, and ours are hand-knitted right here in Iceland.

“Two old faces and one new old face. Three of us happy to be back together and doing what we love doing. Exciting times ahead,” read the post, which featured a picture of Jónsi, Georg Holm and Kjartan Sveinsson.

Kjartan joined the band in 1998 and appears on Sigur Rós’s second studio album ‘Ágætis byrjun’.

In 2012, Kjartan stopped touring with Sigur Rós and later announced his departure from the band to focus on solo projects.

He has since then collaborated with Iceland’s acclaimed performance artist Ragnar Kjartansson and filmdirector Rúnar Rúnarsson on an number of internationally recognized projects.
