Be sure you’re well bundled up tomorrow night and Saturday morning, because the Icelandic Met Office has issued a storm warning for the whole of southwest Iceland during that period.

Across an area stretching from the southern coast of Snæfellsnes to Vík in South Iceland, winds from 20 to 25 metres per second can be expected, with gusts reaching as high as 35 metres per second, from late Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning.

During this time and in this same area, temperatures will only be just above freezing. Mercifully, rain is not predicted, with the exception of the Westman Islands.

As such, it would be a good idea to avoid driving in this area, especially if you have rented a tiny car. As always, before traveling anywhere at any time in Iceland, be sure and check the weather and road conditions.
