The two horses who beset an east Reykjavík neighbourhood this morning have finally been caught by police, and will soon be returned to their rightful owner.

As reported, the horses caused quite a scandal this morning, as they had wandered onto Ártúnsbrekka, stopping morning rush hour traffic, and helped themselves to the grass on people’s lawns.

MBL now reports that capital area police managed to apprehend the runaway horses at the N1 gas station. No car accidents were reported as a result of their brief taste of freedom.

It is believed that the horses escaped from the stables in nearby Víðidal, but this has yet to be confirmed with complete accuracy.

(The horses pictured above are not connected to this incident.)
