Jón Þór Birgisson, or Jónsi from Sigur Rós, has been nominated for a prestigious Golden Globe award, for his song Revelation from the movie Boy Erased.

The movie is about a teenage boy who is forced to undergo a Christian “conversion therapy” because of his sexuality. Amongst the actors in the movie are Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman. The director is Joel Edgerton.

Jónsi wrote the song with Troye Sivan, who also sings.

This is not the first time Jónsi writes songs for movies. He also wrote songs for How To Train Your Dragon and We Bought a Zoo. And of course, the music of Sigur Rós has been in numerous films through the years.

If Jónsi wins, he would be the second Icelandic artist to win the award. The late Jóhann Jóhannsson won a Golden Globe for his original score for the movie The Theory of Everything in the 2015.
