Whether it will or rain or not, don’t waste time hiding under the blankets this weekend. From sport events to music, 90s throwbacks and art exhibit, here’s a fresh Weekend Edit to help you choose the most interesting events held in Reykjavík until Sunday evening.

If you feel like expanding your horizons, however, you can also check our app Happenings for further suggestions.

Sig Vicious — Lavastract
Runs until June 7th — 20:00 — Listastofan — Free!

Sig Vicious opens up his visual world, Lavastract, combining his location and landscape photography with his graphic design origins. As Iceland’s first Instagram celebrity, @SigVicious portrayed the stark nature of the island in an especially angular and defined fashion. This exhibition, which opened yesterday, spins out from his past work, in dialogue with the visual worlds of graphic design, music and cinema. His work is beautiful and captivating, with a sense of immediacy and wonder, creating a feeling of tranquillity in discord—an abstraction of landscapes, in an explosion of colours. SP

Allt í klessu
Runs until Saturday 26th —  Harbinger

Do you laugh at the patriarchy? Glorify it? Criticise it? Worship it? With a series of works portraying everything from bearded men brewing beer to playing basketball, Guðmundur Thoroddsen does all at the same time.
Harbinger is open on Fridays from 12:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 14:00 to 17:00. HJC

Roller Derby: Ragnarök vs. Oslo Tiger City Beasts
Saturday 26th — 14:30 — Íþróttamiðstöð Álftaness — 1,000 ISK

Iceland has everything—even roller derby. Ragnarök, Iceland’s very own women’s roller derby team, will battle against the Oslo Tiger City Beasts in a bout to remember. These gals have come a long way since their inception in 2011, having finally secured their gear, and a place to practice, they’re ready to fight their way to the top. Come ready to witness Iceland’s first and only roller derby team. JW

Pretty Woman: Friday Night Party Screening
Friday 25th — 20:00 — Bíó Paradís

Ready for a throwback? Take a stroll down Rodeo Drive with a fresh-faced, doe-eyed Julia Roberts and let Richard Gere whisk you away to the princess life you’ve always dreamt of. Don’t forget to get popcorn (Bíó Paradís has hands down the best selection in Reykjavík), and enjoy the best make-over scene in cinematic history. AD

JóiPé x Króli
Saturday 26th — 20:00 — Húrra — 2,500 ISK

JóiPé and Króli are the refreshing response to that I-am-so-hardcore-and-cool rap the Icelandic scene has become inundated with. They’re forreal, bitch. HJC

Friday 25th & Saturday 26th — 21:00 — Mengi

Do you know what animated notations are? Have you ever been to an algorave? No? Well, then listen up, because the Raflost festival will soon be putting them on the map when they bring the latest electronic and media arts to downtown Reykjavík—including a workshop about electronic art will be held at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, where both local and international students will create together.
