TV Series “Trapped” Renewed For Another Season And Adds Two Great Writers

According to RÚV, Iceland’s crime TV series Trapped (Ófærð) has been renewed for a second season and added Yrsa Sigurðardóttir and Margrét Örnólfsdóttir to the writing team.

With the series being renewed,  Yrsa Sigurðardóttir and Margrét Örnólfsdóttir join the scriptwriting team with unique backgrounds. Yrsa Sigurðardóttir is a popular crime novel writer, children’s book writer and civil engineer. Margrét Örnólfsdóttir is a television writer and former member of the band “The Sugarcubes,” Iceland’s last cool pop band.

The first season premiered in Britain on BBC4, with 1.2 million viewers watching the first episode and an additional 5.7 million viewers watching the first episode in France. The series was produced and created by Baltasar Kormákur and Sigurjón Kjartansson was the scriptwriter alongside the British writer Clive Bradley. The production studio behind the series is RVK Studios.

The first series of Trapped will premiere in Germany this fall on ZDF and there has yet to be an announcement of when it will be shown in North America. The second series of Trapped is expected to premiere on RÚV in Iceland by the fall of 2018.
