The Grapevine has received photos of some particularly foolhardy behaviour at the notorious Reynisfjara beach.

Photographer Frank Tschöpe contacted The Grapevine last night to share some photos he took last week at Reynisfjara beach in south Iceland. As can be seen, a naked man appears to have gone for a swim at the location, and was spotted emerging from the sea.

As has been reported on numerous occasions, Reynisfjara beach has a powerful but deceptive undertow. Tourists venturing into the waters have often had close calls with serious injury, and drownings have happened there in the past.

While there are numerous spots around Iceland where you can attempt swimming in the icy seas, it is highly inadvisable to do so at Reynisfjara. By all means, enjoy the beautiful scenery at the location, but keep a safe distance from the shoreline.
