The Office of the Prime Minister has confirmed and made public what the legally established colours of the Icelandic flag are.

RÚV reports that since legislative changes have been broadened to allow the use of the flag for the marketing of goods and services, the Office of the Prime Minister believed it necessary to define exactly what the official colours of the Icelandic flag are.

According to an announcement from the Prime Minister’s office, the official colours of the Icelandic flag are called “sky blue”, “snow white” and “fire red”.

In more technical terms, using the SCOTDIC (Standard Colour of Textile, Dictionaire Internationale de la Couleur) scale, these colours are nr. 693009, nr. 95 and SCOTDIC ICELAND FLAG RED. Using the hex scale, these colours are #02529C, #FFFFFF and #DC1E35.

Flag laws in the past had banned the use of the flag for commercial purposes without express written permission from the Office of the Prime Minister.
