Wherever you are in the country, going out this weekend will prove challenging at best.

A new forecast from the Icelandic Met Office announces high winds and other storm conditions this weekend.

“Southwest and south moderate gales and snow showers today, windiest in the north west, moderating during afternoon,” they announce. “Becoming southeast gales with sleet tonight, 18-23[m/s] and rain tonight. Turning soutwest 20-25 m/s with frequent snow showers tomorrow, 25-30 m/s in the north west heandlands. Moderating in south-Iceland tomorrow evening, and partly clearing in the northeast. Temperatures 0 to 5 degrees C in many places, falling tomorrow.”

Conditions such as these do not just mean that bundling up will be an essential part of venturing outside this weekend. Weather of this nature has been known to shut down some roads in the countryside, and if wind speeds increase, domestic flights may be canceled.

The Grapevine highly recommends checking the English-language page of the Met Office for updates before traveling anywhere this weekend.
