January: Not Too Cold For Sea Swimming

Published January 14, 2016

Our photographer Art Bicnick paid a visit to Nauthólsvík beach in Reykjavík on Wednesday, where he found a number of people taking part in the daunting sport of swimming in Iceland’s frigid waters in nothing more than their skivvies.

Wintertime sea swimming is a small sport but growing in popularity, and the accessible Nauthólsvík beach is a popular spot to try it out. Make sure you go with a friend, though. Safety first!
