Despite her best efforts, Iceland’s Eurovision contestant María Ólafsdóttir did not advance through yesterday’s semi-finals with her song “Unbroken.” This means Iceland joins countries such as Moldova, Finland, Denmark and Ireland that must contend themselves with voting but not competing on the big stage this Saturday.

María posted a Facebook update last night saying: “Tonight I stepped up onto the biggest stage in front of millions of people and sung my ass off […] I walk from this competition knowing I did my best for those three minutes, and couldn’t have done more.” She also attached a link to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” with the following message:

“Haters gonna hate, but I’m just gonna shake shake shake, shake it off.”

María ended her message cheering Australia on, a country that may not technically be European, but after years of loyal fandom get to compete in this year’s contest.
