KFC estimates that they  have just enough chicken to stay open through the weekend due to the nationwide shortage, mbl reports.

The ongoing veterinarian strike is causing widespread chicken shortages, with almost no fresh chicken being available at this point and frozen chicken selling out quickly.

“We’ll run out of drumsticks this weekend if nothing changes,” says Kristín Helgadóttir, KFC’s managing director in Iceland. “This is unacceptable. We have eight restaurants and we’re rather specialized since we only serve chicken. We might have to close if nothing changes.”

No chickens have been slaughtered since veterinarians started striking on April 20. Due to strikes yesterday and today, the KFC in Selfoss isn’t open and about 56,000 additional workers may strike in May (they don’t all work at KFC).
