Sigrún Magnúsdóttir New Environment Minister

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson appointed Sigrún Magnúsdóttir as Minister of Environment and Natural Resources. This was reported by RÚV.

Sigrún, a former bank clerk and merchant, now member of Alþingi on behalf of the Progressive Party, has served various administrative roles, on the municipal and State levels, since 1970.

Until Sigrún’s appointment, Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson served as Minister of Environment, as well as Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. He remains in the latter post.
